FAQ

How do I contact VSC with a referral?

You can call one of our locations, fax us the referral, or use our new online form.

What should the client bring when they come in for a consult?

VSC requires that every patient coming in for a consult have current blood work, their medical record and any radiographs  or biopsy results pertaining to the consult.

We prefer the blood work to be a general chemistry/CBC and for it to be no more than two weeks old.  It tends to be more cost effective if your client has the blood work done through your clinic rather than our in-house lab the day of the surgery.

The medical record can either be faxed to us or sent along with the client for the consult.

Radiographs that are digital and pertain to the case can be emailed to info@veterinarysurgicalcenters.com, burned to a disc and mailed, or sent with the client.  If you have standard films, please mail them or send them with the client as well.  Standard films will be returned with the client or mailed back to the clinic in a timely manner.  All radiographs on CD will be kept at VSC unless directed otherwise.

Which doctor do I use?

VSC employs only the best doctors in the area. No matter which location you call or what day of the week it is, you can rest assured you will receive the same level of dedication from all of our doctors and staff.

How do I reach a surgeon after hours?

VSC works closely with local area 24 hour emergency clinics.  The best method to reach a surgeon after hours is to present the case to one of the emergency clinics.  If the case needs a surgical or neurological consult, the on call doctor will be contacted.  If the need for an emergency surgery should arise, the VSC doctor will arrive at that facility and perform the surgery with one of VSC’s highly trained anesthesia technicians.

Can I send a client over without a referral?

No.  We are a referral only practice.  You may contact us by phone, by fax or with our new online referral form.  We need to build a client/patient relationship to insure that all of the questions regarding your clients’ case are answered and the surgical procedure, including post-operative care and possible complications, are fully understood. This is necessary as a benefit to the client and even more, to the pet.  If there is an emergency and you would like the client/pet to be seen immediately, please call and speak directly to one of our surgeons.  It may be necessary for the pet to be admitted through the emergency clinic first to ensure stability of that patient before being seen by one of our surgeons.  We will keep in contact with you during this process.

What are the payment options for the treatment of my clients’ pet?

We accept: cash, check, and major credit cards. We also use “Care Credit”, and "Wells Fargo Health Advantage"; if payment plans are needed. You can learn more at www.carecredit.com & www.wellsfargo.com or speak to one of our receptionists.  Payment is due when services are rendered.   Each client will receive, if surgery is deemed necessary, an itemized estimate that will be reviewed in full with the client.  We also require a deposit at the time the pet is left for surgery.
